Oyster Mee Sua or Flour Rice noodle

Finally I manage to find yummy Oyster Mee Sua here in Prai, Penang.  The taste is quite similar to the Oyster Mee Sua which I have tasted years ago in Taiwan. I still remember how people queued for Ay-Chung flour rice noodle at Xi Men Ting, Taiwan. If you don’t see the situation there, sure you won’t believe what I said. See the photo below for evidence.

There is no table or chair for you. Stand or squat anywhere if you like and enjoy your Mee Sua. :)
Mee Sua

This similar superb Mee Sua finally can be found here in Penang. Not that Penang don’t have Mee Sua but the taste of this handmade Mee Sua of ShihLin Taiwan Street Snacks found here (at Queensbay mall or Jusco) tasted good and reminds me of Ay-Chung noodle in Taiwan. Especially the oysters….

Hmmm….see the photo below. This is the Mee Sua of ShihLin. See those oysters? They are really fresh and super yummy. True, really fresh! (The photo. Not bad) :)

Char Kway Teow

Char Kueh TeowDo you like food?  OK, another post regarding food.  ”Char Kway Teow” or fried flat noodles, a popular food from Penang, Malaysia that you cannot miss.  For Singaporean and Malaysian, the first thing that come to their mind when they heard the word “Penang”, normally will be ”Penang Char Kway Teow”. Great?

You should try it if you are in Penang.  However, don’t take too much lah else you will have high cholesterol problem.

Char Kway Teow is fried with bean sprouts, eggs, prawns etc..and of course flat noodles. Most of the Char Kway Teow found in Penang are delicious.  However, i like the Char kway Teow from Bukit Mertajam (near railway station) which fried with duck’s eggs .   The Duck egg Char Kway teow business normally start around 8pm.

So which famous Char Kway Teow do you like the most? From Lorong Selamat or BM or….

The most famous A1 Wan Tan Mee From BM

This is the most famous Wan Tan Mee in Bukit Mertajam.  The Wan Tan Mee is very special & delicious.  Still don’t believe it ???  See how the mee seller arranged the bowls (more than 10 bowls each time) !!! He kept on preparing the mee as there are always ppl Q for the mee.  See the videos below. They were so busy that until they needed to increase their speed.  I put up these photos so that those who cannot enjoy the mee can enjoy it through this site. Especially my big brother . Ha! Ha!

War Museum

War Museum 1
Dare to visit War Museum of Batu Maung, Penang during the month of Hungry ghost ? This mighty military fortress built in 1930′s by the British to protect the island from enemies. There are underground military tunnels, intelligence and logistic centre, halls, offices, ventilation shafts, cannon firing bays, cook houses etc.
War Museum 2
This is an outdoor museum. Do bring along a torch if you want to explore the underground secret tunnels else you will miss the mysterious tunnels.  During the Japanese era, it was used as detention centre for POW’s. The fortress became a torture centre.

Some tips from War museum : Put on comfortable walking shoes & bring binoculars. Watch out for snakes & insects. We saw a snake during the visit.

The war museum is a monument mistakenly made by the British in thinking the enemy would attack from the sea thus the cannons aimed to the sea. But the Japanese invaded by land. You still can find the British telecommunication post & tomb of Sgt John Wolf.
