Famous Mixed Rice in Bukit Mertajam

As you know Penang is a paradise for food lovers. Therefore, another post regarding food. Recently, The New York Times nominated Penang as one of 44 places to go in 2009. This is absolutely correct. I must write more about Penang…..

Try to imagine roasted chicken and pork rice with delicious sauce, soup & chili. I don’t know how to call this rice but the name given is nasi campur (mixed rice in Malay language). This mixed rice can be found only in Bukit Mertajam.

Tada! Check out the photo here. Very delicious and special! See the sauce?
Mixed Rice
Notice the bowl with the soup? The same bowl which is earlier used to cook the rice. I find this unique.  :)

After a while, the food seller inform the crowd the rice has finished. Come again tomorrow. :)

I think you should also mentioned that the uniqueness is actually in the way they cook the rice, example each portion of the rice is cook individually in the same metal bowl they serve the soup in, and they are steam like Pau.

The secret is also in the sacred sauce they use, which taste heavenly, plus don’t forget the green pickle chilli, which compliments the whole meal very nicely.

So far I think this is the only place in the world where you can find this.

    Cheers! Big Bro
